TDM #10

Whether it be sleep or death, you feel your eyes close, and as your body begins to let go, you see a barn owl that is flying through the darkness, soon sweeping you across the clouded sky. You feel yourself mouth the words, “I wish, I wish..” and utter your deepest and darkest desire.
When you regain consciousness, you’ll find you are in an unfamiliar place with no recognition of how you arrived here. You have the clothes on your back, but nothing else. No weapons and if you had a particular superpower, you’ll notice it is missing. All you have is a satchel with a piece of bread, a vial of water, and a potion. The potion could be red, blue or golden. There are no instructions about these potions other than two words: Drink Me.
Will you drink it or not?
There is a parchment, handwritten in scrawling, jagged lettering that seems a bit... ominous:
You’re in a garden, surrounded by flowers and plants– most of which you cannot identify. However, there are a few that you can make out: Sunflowers and Hibiscus. You’ll soon find out that being around the Sunflower makes it difficult to pass through the already disorienting garden, even with the light guiding you. Where patches of them grow, even if only waist-high, you cannot pass through them, over them, or even destroy them to get them out of your way. In each grouping that blocks your path, there is one that has a key-shaped opening in the middle of the flower. Maybe the key is nearby? (Spoiler: it's probably under a rock nearby that you forgot to check!) The hibiscus offers an entirely different effect - inhaling the pollen grants you the temporary ability to shoot fireballs out of your hands. But be careful, those fireballs are difficult to control and seem to bounce in random directions no matter how hard you try to aim (cannot be used to destroy the sunflowers). The effect ends once you step out of the garden.

Somnius is once again recovering from a devastating blow. Buildings need to be restored to their former glory and the emotional turmoil of the previous weeks surely needs to be alleviated. What better way to lighten the mood than a little fun for the whole family? A new arcade has appeared in town, beckoning residents with its stone doors set wide open.
With multiple levels, a variety of games and even a snackbar, Appl3 Pi Arcade is sure to be a hit!
Of course, as with everything that ever happens in Somnius, the arcades appearance is not without some complications. For one, playing the games inside might see characters teleported into the machine itself, perfectly pixelated to fit the game they're in. Hope you weren't about to fight the final boss, because now you might be fighting for your life! The good news is, if you die in the game... you don't die in real life and are just popped back out into the arcade again.
Strange things happen outside the arcade too. Walking down the road you might suddenly see a healthbar pop up above someone's head. Are you supposed to fight them? Are they going to fight you? Best to be cautious and reach for any trusty weapons you have just in case. Weapons that have become pixelated and can be pulled seemingly out of nowhere like some kind of hammerspace. They are also prone to breaking and shattering into glimmering pixel pieces (your normal weapons are still intact, don't worry).
Boxes and pots around Somnius are somehow more breakable than usual, smashed open with a single swing of those pixel weapons and producing gold coins! What a shame gold coins aren't the currency here. But if you don't want to destroy more things around Somnius, why not try fishing instead? That seems safe - if not suddenly more difficult with the fishing minigame that popped up in front of you. Quick! Keep the fish icon in the green bar or you'll lose it!
All things considered? It's all relatively harmless fun up until-

Vaeros wakes up. For those new to town, this means nothing. For those that were here for the castle raid? They can rest assured that they're in for a surprise. The Overlord of Visium has finally awoken from his Hyalily induced coma and he is furious. A shout echoes from the castle:
A wave of magical energy sweeps through the town, shaking it to the very core. Miraculously, the destroyed buildings and any remnants of the forest onslaught are gone and returned to their usual state. Perhaps Vaeros shouting was just another tantrum, an empty threat?
Not quite.
The town has been restored, but the locals? They are nowhere to be seen - cowering in their homes and fleeing to the sanctity of the Church of the Moon in hopes of staying out of sight of Vaeros and Dreamers both. The once tame video game effects are now far more intense - monsters from within those games are now rampaging through the town. They seem to shift through buildings, but if they run face first into a Dreamer, they will find them very corporeal and very deadly.
Not only that, but the lines are starting to blur between reality and fiction again, the healthbar above your head flickering in and out, the monsters turning from pixel beasts to real, live animals that roam Somnius - both feral and not. One second you are walking through town, and the next you are stepping onto a platform that starts to break under your weight, demanding you jump to the next platform before you plummet into an odd, multicolored abyss.
And strangest of all is that music coming from the labyrinth, growing louder when you approach and fading out when you move away.
Welcome to the labyrinthum TDM! Characters will arrive depowered and with only their clothing, and will be given a satchel with a crystal pendant, a communication device, some water and bread and a magic potion. If they drink the potion, they will manifest an elemental, healing or animal transformation ability.
With the exception of Castle Vaeros, characters are free to go as they please, so feel free to place them in any of the locations available on the map. Yes, this includes the Labyrinth - though characters will not be able to clear the maze.
You can find more information about the game here. Any questions regarding the TDM can go under the comment below.

"Avatar Aang was my grandfather. I never had the opportunity to meet him. But Gran gran used to tell us all about the adventures all of you went on. Though we don't get to see her that ofter since she went home to the southern water tribe."
It had always been one of her favorite parts of their visits, hearing the stories of what had happened back during the hundred year war.
no subject
"Small world, or something..." She shrugs, letting out a sigh and finally standing.
Tiny- she's even shorter than Jinora! Not that Toph's ever going to be tall.
"The Key's behind you, in the bushes, if you're looking for it. Welcome to this dumb place I guess."
no subject
"Or destiny."
It was a little strange seeing someone that she'd always heard so much about and had always built up in her head as a small girl who was shorter than she was. Not that she had expected Toph to be all that tall, but they had at least been the same height the first time Jinora met her.
"Really? Thanks, see we'll be able to find our way out in no time."
no subject
Toph lets out a low sigh, not quite moving from her spot yet, but there's a somewhat unhurried movement as she lets Jinora hunt around post-hint.
"You in a rush or something?" Shorter, but no less abrasive it seems. "You're taking this whole new world thing pretty well."
no subject
AS far as being worried about finding herself in a new world, Jinora had been a little worried, and still was deep down. But she needed to stay calm, and think about things clearly. Besides it wasn't the first time she'd found herself in a new world without her bending, that had had happened when she'd first enetered the spirit world. This was much different, other than she wasn't able to sense the energy of others either.
"I've been lost before, and in a strange place. But there's a reason for it, and if whatever I wished for is going to come true, then I have to be here right?"
no subject
"Maybe. I've been here for nearly a year now. I'm still not quite sure what this place wants from us."
That... may not be the most reassuring. "But it's nice to meet other people from our world."
no subject
As for what this place wanted, it was something that they might be able to figure out by all working together. Jinora had a feeling that it was likely tied to their wishes though, and probably the Labyrinth itself. They just had to keep hope, even when things seemed dark.
no subject
Things always seem dark to Toph. Duh-
She offers a shrug, subtly moving the key just a bit closer to help her find it. "You know a bit about me already, whats your deal?"
no subject
Finding the key, Jinora smiled and picked it up before dusting it off a little.
"Well I'm the youngest Airbender to have ever become a master and gotten their tattoos. I'm the eldest of four kids. Ikki and Milo are also air benders but mom is really hoping that Rohan isn't. He's too young to really know if he will be or not. She just wants a normal kid since she's a non-bender. My father, Tenzin, is the head of the air nomads, and is the eldest of three children between Avatar Aang and Katara of the Southern Water Tribe."
no subject
"That's good to know and all... even if it's weird thinking of my friends as grandparents." Yeah that... that's gonna take a moment. But she rounds her questioning back to Jinora. "But you didn't really answer the question. What's your deal, outside of just being an airbender."
no subject
That was a lot of who and what Jinora was, she'd spent a lot of time helping to rebuild the air nomads and training the new air benders that emerged after harmonic convergence. And then she had been traveling with them to help the different people that were being affected by Kuvera and the situation with the Earth Kingdom.
"I like spend a lot of time talking and getting to know the spirits. And go to the spirit wilds a lot. And I like to read as well, and spend time with the baby air bison. Oh there's Kai as well. He's . . . a close friend."
She blushed a little, the pause a slight give away that she probably thought about him a little more than a friend. Finding the flower with the keyhole, Jinora unlocked their way to the next area.
"I try to hang out with Korra when I can, but she's usually off with Asami. Or with Mako and Bolin."
no subject
With a faint stretch and crack of her neck, Toph's following along, grinning just a little bit wider. "Funny you should say that. Korra's here too. You're both from well into my future. Maybe you'll match!" As for where? Honestly it's anyone's guess sometimes.
no subject
She'd definately want to find Korra when she could, but right now she had the opportunity to learn more about Toph. If they became friends, maybe she could understand Lin better and why their family was so hard on each other.
"Have the two of you done any training? How long did it take for your bending to come back?"
no subject
Toph lets out a huff, finally following Jinora out of the flowers.
"Not a lot. Korra hasn't got her earthbending back yet. We fight a bit sometimes. I got my bending back within a month. But the time seems to change a lot between people."
no subject
"But eventually it comes back? That's good to hear, I was worried that it was gone forever."
A nightmare that she'd already been threatened with and haunted with before with Amon when he'd been sealing away people bending. He'd captured all of them until they were rescued by Korra and the others.
"I wouldn't mind watching sometime. Maybe I can help to figure out how to get her through it."
no subject
She's quietly hoping the answer is yes, it'll save her some explanations.
"Once you have enough shards you can get some of your powers back. I think Korra's just had to spend more because she has all four elements?" That's her logic, seems pretty consistent.
no subject
Jinora would be sure to get right to work on trying to earn as many as she could to help Korra, as well as to get her own bending back hopefully. If it was just a matter of earning enough then it should be pretty quick.
no subject
Toph shrugs, that's the best she can offer in the moment. "I had to rely on others a lot when I first came here... so I guess I earned a lot really quickly."
no subject
"That must have been scary, and tough. I'm glad that you were able to find those who were willing to help you. The people here seem really nice."
no subject
"They are, for the most part... But just be careful you don't trust everyone. There's a few sneaky people around. Met anyone else yet?"
no subject
Even though Jinora had been sure to introduce herself, she never had gotten the other girl's name. But then she also felt like the other hadn't trusted her either, and was upset about something else.
"But it's my responsibility to help all of those that I can."
no subject
It would be a hilarious coincidence if it was, honestly.
"Helping people is fine, Aang was the same. But it helps if you don't treat people like they're helpless when you do. Sometimes you have to let them handle what they can themselves."
no subject
Which was why she hadn't recognized the other, and since she never used any fire bending it didn't even occur to Jinora to even think that she was a bender at all.
"I understand, and I try not to because there have been some really amazing people that I've met."
no subject
In fairness, it could have been anyone else, Azula isn't the only hotheaded stubborn person around. Just perhaps the most prominent to Toph. As if on cue, they finally manage to clear the flower maze, stepping out into open fields on the outskirts of the garden.
"So... want to head into town? You might as well go meat everyone else."
no subject
It was nice to finally be out of the maze, and not having to worry about finding more keys, or the strange effects that the pollen had. At the mention of going into town and meeting others Jinore was a little nervous but at the same time excited.
"I'd really like that, thank you."
Lean to a wrap here? :>
