TDM #10

Whether it be sleep or death, you feel your eyes close, and as your body begins to let go, you see a barn owl that is flying through the darkness, soon sweeping you across the clouded sky. You feel yourself mouth the words, “I wish, I wish..” and utter your deepest and darkest desire.
When you regain consciousness, you’ll find you are in an unfamiliar place with no recognition of how you arrived here. You have the clothes on your back, but nothing else. No weapons and if you had a particular superpower, you’ll notice it is missing. All you have is a satchel with a piece of bread, a vial of water, and a potion. The potion could be red, blue or golden. There are no instructions about these potions other than two words: Drink Me.
Will you drink it or not?
There is a parchment, handwritten in scrawling, jagged lettering that seems a bit... ominous:
You’re in a garden, surrounded by flowers and plants– most of which you cannot identify. However, there are a few that you can make out: Sunflowers and Hibiscus. You’ll soon find out that being around the Sunflower makes it difficult to pass through the already disorienting garden, even with the light guiding you. Where patches of them grow, even if only waist-high, you cannot pass through them, over them, or even destroy them to get them out of your way. In each grouping that blocks your path, there is one that has a key-shaped opening in the middle of the flower. Maybe the key is nearby? (Spoiler: it's probably under a rock nearby that you forgot to check!) The hibiscus offers an entirely different effect - inhaling the pollen grants you the temporary ability to shoot fireballs out of your hands. But be careful, those fireballs are difficult to control and seem to bounce in random directions no matter how hard you try to aim (cannot be used to destroy the sunflowers). The effect ends once you step out of the garden.

Somnius is once again recovering from a devastating blow. Buildings need to be restored to their former glory and the emotional turmoil of the previous weeks surely needs to be alleviated. What better way to lighten the mood than a little fun for the whole family? A new arcade has appeared in town, beckoning residents with its stone doors set wide open.
With multiple levels, a variety of games and even a snackbar, Appl3 Pi Arcade is sure to be a hit!
Of course, as with everything that ever happens in Somnius, the arcades appearance is not without some complications. For one, playing the games inside might see characters teleported into the machine itself, perfectly pixelated to fit the game they're in. Hope you weren't about to fight the final boss, because now you might be fighting for your life! The good news is, if you die in the game... you don't die in real life and are just popped back out into the arcade again.
Strange things happen outside the arcade too. Walking down the road you might suddenly see a healthbar pop up above someone's head. Are you supposed to fight them? Are they going to fight you? Best to be cautious and reach for any trusty weapons you have just in case. Weapons that have become pixelated and can be pulled seemingly out of nowhere like some kind of hammerspace. They are also prone to breaking and shattering into glimmering pixel pieces (your normal weapons are still intact, don't worry).
Boxes and pots around Somnius are somehow more breakable than usual, smashed open with a single swing of those pixel weapons and producing gold coins! What a shame gold coins aren't the currency here. But if you don't want to destroy more things around Somnius, why not try fishing instead? That seems safe - if not suddenly more difficult with the fishing minigame that popped up in front of you. Quick! Keep the fish icon in the green bar or you'll lose it!
All things considered? It's all relatively harmless fun up until-

Vaeros wakes up. For those new to town, this means nothing. For those that were here for the castle raid? They can rest assured that they're in for a surprise. The Overlord of Visium has finally awoken from his Hyalily induced coma and he is furious. A shout echoes from the castle:
A wave of magical energy sweeps through the town, shaking it to the very core. Miraculously, the destroyed buildings and any remnants of the forest onslaught are gone and returned to their usual state. Perhaps Vaeros shouting was just another tantrum, an empty threat?
Not quite.
The town has been restored, but the locals? They are nowhere to be seen - cowering in their homes and fleeing to the sanctity of the Church of the Moon in hopes of staying out of sight of Vaeros and Dreamers both. The once tame video game effects are now far more intense - monsters from within those games are now rampaging through the town. They seem to shift through buildings, but if they run face first into a Dreamer, they will find them very corporeal and very deadly.
Not only that, but the lines are starting to blur between reality and fiction again, the healthbar above your head flickering in and out, the monsters turning from pixel beasts to real, live animals that roam Somnius - both feral and not. One second you are walking through town, and the next you are stepping onto a platform that starts to break under your weight, demanding you jump to the next platform before you plummet into an odd, multicolored abyss.
And strangest of all is that music coming from the labyrinth, growing louder when you approach and fading out when you move away.
Welcome to the labyrinthum TDM! Characters will arrive depowered and with only their clothing, and will be given a satchel with a crystal pendant, a communication device, some water and bread and a magic potion. If they drink the potion, they will manifest an elemental, healing or animal transformation ability.
With the exception of Castle Vaeros, characters are free to go as they please, so feel free to place them in any of the locations available on the map. Yes, this includes the Labyrinth - though characters will not be able to clear the maze.
You can find more information about the game here. Any questions regarding the TDM can go under the comment below.
(ó﹏ò。) inigo...
Ehhhhh~~? Welcome to -
DOKI DOKI AFTER-SCHOOL CLUB!!!
[ BB twirls, the outfit they both wear is nothing like that of which he's never seen in Somnius. Not even for her, since she simply emulated the same outfit that was in the game onto herself. Everything here is an asset that she's stolen and taken for her own! ]
A game about dating, living your lofty little life in school. [ As she speaks, suddenly, a window seems to open in front of Inigo's face. There it begins to play the opening cut scene of the game. It's of a boy whose face for whatever reason is scratched out along with every other girl there. None of the original characters that belonged to this game, seem to exist anymore. ] Making friends, trying your hardest to get good grades, and gasp - FALLING IN LOVE!
So Senpai, [ She drops her sudden cheery disposition, her eyes reddish in color and expression serious by all means. All that she can think about, is how much fun she will have learning and testing his limits. What would make him break? What would make him happiest? Humans and their fallible existences, the Ai needed to know. What failure means, to a person like this? Otherwise, how can she save Humanity, after all? ] are you ready for a wonderful time?
[ "You feel like you're going to have a bad time." ]
he is doing this to himself tbh......
Inigo may be leaning back in his seat a little bit, so unsure of any part of what's going on here. At least last time he encountered her, BB herself had been the only strange thing to figure out - but now everything about this is strange. Inigo doesn't know what part of all of it to even attempt to figure out first, glancing around himself with clear confusion in his eyes before his gaze falls back on her. ]
I, uh..
[ Is he ready to be senpai?
Not at all.
On the other hand, he doesn't want to upset her again. So Inigo tries to swallow his own nerves, sucks in a deep breath, and-- ]
I-- I will do my best! [ He sounds so solemn about it. Like he's making a promise. ] I can't say I know all that much about school, but if it would make you happy.. then of course I will try to see if we can have a wonderful time!
[ Famous last words. ]
cw: death implied
For some reason, at this point, Inigo may feel as if this isn't the first time he's made a choice. As if, her lofty giggling was because she heard him say that already once or - several times before. Almost as if, she loves hearing it, every time Inigo says that to her. I can't say I Know all that much about school, but if it would make you happy... Then of course - - - AN IMAGE OF FALLING OFF THE TOP OF A BUILDING FLASHES BEFORE YOUR EYES YOU TURN YOUR HEAD AND YOURE SURE TO SEE SOMEONE WITH LONG LOCKS OF HAIR SMILING AS YOU FALL DOWN - - - Her eyes seem earnest, this is BB-chan the girl that confuses Inigo so much with her antics. Why did she run away when you first met her, and why is she bothering you with all this now? Eyes, full of interest and excitement seem to watch Inigo cautiously. She twirls a lock of hair between her fingertips, waiting eagerly. ]
Senn - Pai ~~ ♡ ?

Partially because of the confusion and social anxiety going on here, yes, but also because there's-- there's something here, and he can't put his finger on it. Not even necessarily a good something, just something. Something confusing. Something he can't grasp, but it's making the adrenaline soar through his veins, even though all he's doing here is sitting with her.
Why is his heart pounding? Why does this choice feel so important? And he-- He has to make a choice, doesn't he?
Inigo swallows thickly, and his hand moves to go for the option of Say yes. ]
Y-Yes? I, um--
[ He's blushing, and he isn't sure what's causing it, other than a mix of just about twenty confusing emotions all at once. ]
Whatever you want, of course.
[ Inigo is so weak.. ]

Anything you want, anything you want, anything you want - over and over she wanted to hear that again. ]
That's right you little bug, [ BB hums affectionately, suddenly pushing forward and wrapping both arms around Inigo's. She draws him in closely to her, and settles his arm in between her breasts. All the while her breath skirts against his neck, ] let's go ahead and eat lunch! Then after, we'll start our classes and move on to the rest of the day~~ ♡ !
[ She sounds sickeningly sweet, but everything about this feels wrong and disgusting. Unless, of course, he is into that? Into the feeling of someone who has caused potentially some traumatic incidents and deleted them from his memory. At her own convenience, because she wanted to try again and play around with you again and see your answers again and feel your affections again and see what you would do again and be in control again and - - ]
Ne, ne, senpai I made your favorite dessert! Lemon with chocolate frosting on it ~~ ♡ ! It's a small spongey cupcake, it'll make your tastebuds soar~!

And yet--
Even so-- ]
Hey, I-- Milady BB.
[ It doesn't really fit the setting, huh. That archaic, formal term. And yet Inigo can't help but use it anyway, his gaze turned towards her, his eyes so soft, so obviously worried. ]
Are you sure you are alright? I don't think we should be here. Please-- Allow me to help you. I am worried something might happen to you.
[ Maybe Inigo is something even a little worse than someone who's into that disturbing stuff.
It's that he's just innocent enough to believe that she is the victim too in this, and that maybe he can help save her. ]

.... To me? [ He looks at her gently, it all feels too real. Moments tender afforded to someone unworthy like her - but they are hers all the same! Mine, no one else's, and once again she is also trapped in the cycle of wanting to interact with him. In this cyclic horror, she created. ] Mmm, no nothing will happen to me, does that make you feel better?
[ Girlish is her response, and her tone matches that of soft concern Inigo gives. ]
Are you unhappy this way, [ Thinking for a moment, twirling a lock of hair as she keeps her weight against his arm. ] is there something else you want then? Not lunch, but, something else?
[ Choices seem to come up and,
> "No, I want to stay with you."
> "I want to go Home."
Faintly, recalling, that the last response seems to end in a free fall to certain death. Oddly though, the feeling of death - can't exactly be remembered. It is the feeling of fear though that is. That feeling one has when they know they are about to die, that terribly haunting feeling. As this a game, and even here, BB can't emulate the feeling of death - but, she can stimulate the feeling of dying from someone. ]

It's like witnessing a terrible car wreck. Except the car is-- It's--
He swallows.
When did his throat start feeling so dry? ]
Can't you-- Can't you come with me?
[ It's not an option. It's likely this-- this situation, or whatever it is, will reject it.
But isn't that exactly what Inigo did back home? He fought with his friends to reject the two awful options they had to create a third, better one, even if it erased their future. And the idea of them staying here doesn't feel great when this situation is so ominous, and the bottom option feels him with even worse dread, so.. ]
Let me take you away from here. We can go eat ice cream together back in town. Don't you think that sounds like fun?
[ And Inigo can't recall a single time he's been at the ice cream place there that made him feel like this. So unsettled, so worried that something could happen at any moment. While he has more concrete proof - or, no, assumptions, feelings, flashes of what is this even-- - that he's the one in danger here, he's certainly worried about said danger turning on her too.
It's like he knows she's the source of it, after all. ]

There lingers in the faulty consequence of this meeting, an AI should never have interacted with humans like this. ]
Eh? [ She seems to pull at him a bit in a different direction at first, her own warm body still clinging ever closely to his arm. BB should mind his space, but it is evident how much she does not care for that. His space, is her space, and it pleases BB to be like this. ] Ice cream...
[ Thinking on it, that sounds like a rather pleasant idea. BB ran a ice cream scenario quite a while ago, and going through it at a different time now would be wonderful. ] Okay, Senpai ~ ♡ BB-chan will follow you ~~ ♡ !

[ There is some renewed energy in the way he says it, like there's some relief in the fact that she seemed to go along with the idea rather easily. He thought that he'd have to do more to convince her, but it's a good thing that he doesn't have to. Trying to cope with this entire situation and her rather close proximity - including the close proximity, of, you know, certain body parts and all - is hard enough by itself without Inigo also having to convince BB as to why staying here seems like it'd be no good for either of them.
But even with the relief he feels at that..
.. well, a new problem presents itself rather quickly. Inigo looks around them, and the more he looks, the more the guy starts looking a little distressed again. Like he's realizing something.
Like, for example, the fact that he doesn't even know if this place has an exit. And if so, where it is. ]
I-- Do you happen to know how we can leave this place and go back to town?
[ Please tell him you know, BB. Or it'll be an entire new crisis as he has to figure out how to save them from this predicament when Inigo hardly even knows what's going on in the first place..
Not that he won't do it. If it's to keep her safe - then of course he will.
But it doesn't seem like it'd be easy. ]
