Announcements
We've got a few things below I want to cover! Some planned changes are rolling out today as well as some adjustments to the timeline of others due to mod availability during the holidays.

Appropriate Mod Contact
As a reminder, all interaction with the mod team in a moderating capacity is to be done through labyrinmods via the Mod Contact and DM, or via the FAQ or Questions pages on associated event posts by either labyrinmods or labyrinhelp here on Dreamwidth. labyrinmods is always the first contact for Ryn, especially regarding player conflict or game-related issues. I will keep conversations private if requested, but may consult my team should I require additional input when making decisions. I am the only one with access to labyrinmods, so you can rest assured that any conversation is private if requested.

We will not honor requests to continue conversations regarding moderation issues in places other than on Dreamwidth.

Please do not try to contact the mod team on the mod plurk, or individual mods regarding modding duties or issues via plurk pp on personal accounts, DM on discord, or on dreamwidth via personal journals/character journals. We understand that sometimes mistakes happen, and will redirect contact of this nature to the correct location. However, repeated instances of ignoring or disregarding this request will result in a warning or further steps should it be needed.

As an exception: In dire emergencies such as health/medical or otherwise issues that need immediate and direct attention, players are allowed to send Ryn a direct PP over on Plurk @ kermitkin.

Please keep your contact with the mod team respectful, as we strive to do the same with all of you. I understand that recent history with the previous mod team was a little fraught, but I trust that now in the new year we can move on with our new team with a fresh slate. Remember to be kind and assume good faith motivations for the team as we do with you, we are all here to have fun together after all.


State of Visium
Upon the dawn of the first day of the new year, Visium is no longer shrouded in night. The weather has eased up and the snow will remain but temperatures will not be as frigid. The crystal fields remain and take up most of the island, leaving Somnius as the only habitable portion of Visium remaining. The natives of the island will continue to ignore and avoid dreamers for the time being. There will always be some natives that are more receptive to dreamers than others, but overall, Dreamers remain unwelcome in Somnius.

Test Drive Meme
Our TDM is scheduled to go up later today no later than 7pm, slightly delayed due to mod team health and personal events. We apologize for the delay but it is only by a few hours.

Housing
There is new housing available in our new location! Players are welcome to have their dreamers move to these new living spaces should they want to. Those of you who have purchased homes and expansions will be able to submit a request on the housing page at the end of the month to make it official. Any large custom housing, farms, etc will be handled individually to figure out a location that suits the home. Newly arrived characters may still choose starter homes in Somnius, but can also choose from the free starter homes in Lumindeas as well. All available starter homes (new and old) are located on the housing page.

Homes in our new location are less customizable on the outside to keep with the aesthetic of the location, but will continue to be customizable and editable on the inside via our shard mechanic OOCly.

Castles will remain only available in Visium. We will also make an official announcement that castles are restricted to one per character.

Shards: Banking & Spending
Our new Shard pages are live! We have separated Banking and spending into two pages. Please follow the instructions to start your threads there. It should be familiar, as the setup is similar to how we have our Activity Tracker page set up. We have also added a small number of rewards newly relevant to the game and adjusted the cost of others. These may be adjusted further, but most of the new additions are meant to take a while to earn.

Activity Check
We have launched a fresh activity check page that will hopefully load smoother (until it doesn't). Please create your activity check threads on this page as you have in the past. We will maintain a link to the old activity check page for archival sake, but all new submissions, including January 2025, should be done on this new page.

Questboard Now Open
Our questboard is now operational ahead of schedule! It will be updated on a Bimonthly schedule following this, on the same months as our TDM but later in the month. Rewards for this mechanic are handwaved amounts of money to spend in Seravos' land, and custom rewards from the quest givers. There's no need to track these rewards, and have decided that for now we will leave it up to the community and scout's honor that claiming these rewards means the quest was threaded out/handwaved.

Rules Overhaul
The rules page has been updated and currently reflects the outlook of the team going forward. Questions and concerns should be directed to the mod contact page.

Locations Overhaul
Our new Locations and Business page is live! There is a Subheader for Business submissions for players. Please, if you have an active business please fill out the form and link your business page or provide a description. Any questions about the locations looking for more information than is provided we ask to hold off on, and to play with what is provided for now. There is a lot to explore! We don't want to micromanage exploration of this new setting. You're welcome to fiddle and play in the setting within reason. Use your best judgment!

FAQ & Misc. Pages Overhaul
This is our biggest overhaul, and it is taking us longer than I anticipated to finish things in a state that I am happy with. Therefore we will be moving the official launch of the new FAQ and updated pages to the end of January/the beginning of February. Please continue to use the current faq page to ask important questions, but we request that at this time players refrain from asking questions that are particularly probing about the new available setting locations until we get those pages updated. There is plenty of provided information for these areas in our new TDM.
